The design intent for this large residential lot was to keep the yard as barrier free as possible without the use of terracing in the sloped backyard. Bold and sweeping arcs were used to create definition between surfaces and materials, and the use of poured seating and walking areas was kept to a minimum. Instead, we suggested a variety of textures and colors for pedestrian flow, while still incorporating the simple curved arcs throughout. It was important to leave open views to the back, while still creating privacy from the covered deck. Drainage of this lot must collect at the front, and of course not drain into adjacent properties.
